Matcha lattes are one of the most popular refreshing drinks of our time. But many people ask themselves, how do I prepare a matcha latte without a whisk? In this blog post, I take on and answer this frequently asked question.
Matcha is the “it” drink of our time. Who hasn’t seen the many matcha stores and cafés that are around these days? Or the many great Instagram posts in which the matcha is aesthetically tipped into the oat milk?
Aesthetics aside, matcha has many very good ingredients, such as antioxidants and chlorophyll, due to the green color of the finely plucked matcha leaves. So this drink looks beautiful and helps the body with good ingredients.

What do you need to make a matcha latte without a whisk?
Making matcha without a whisk is very simple! I use my Vitamix A3500i Ascent Series here. You can have a matcha latte in less than 30 seconds if you want. You only need 3 ingredients.
These would be a high-quality ceremonial grade organic matcha powder, a sweetener of your choice if you like your matcha slightly sweet, and a milk of your choice. I use my Homemade Oat Milk Creamer for this.

What is matcha?
Matcha is a plant that is grown in Japan. Only the individually plucked matcha leaves, which are very delicate and sensitive, are harvested by hand and processed into high-quality matcha.
There are two distinctions when it comes to matcha teas.
On the one hand, there is the popular and globally prized ceremonial grade matcha, which ranges in price from 30 dollars to premium varieties that can cost hundreds of dollars. These matcha teas are used in Japan for high-quality and elegant ceremonies, where every single sip of matcha is savored and honored. I have been using this Ceremonial Hoshino Organic Matcha for years. A high-quality matcha powder is green and can have bitter to chocolaty and vanilla notes. It always depends on the variety.
Then there is the culinary grade Matcha. This is less complex in taste, dark to non-glowing green color, and not used for matcha ceremonies. This culinary-grade matcha is used exclusively for cooking and baking and is therefore not used as a tea ceremony powder.
What tricks are there for making matcha without a whisk?
Ok, the ultimate trick is to use a Vitamix blender! This reduces your preparation time so much that you can enjoy your matcha latte in 20 seconds or less.
Traditionally, matcha is prepared with a wooden whisk called a chasen, but we’re skipping that step today.
You will need these ingredients:
2 x teaspoons of organic matcha powder
100 ml filtered water
2 x teaspoons Demerara brown sugar
200- 300ml oat milk; I use my homemade oat milk creamer for this as I like my matcha very frothy
Then add all the ingredients, starting with the oat milk, followed by the matcha powder and then the teaspoons of Demerara brown sugar.
Now press on the Vitamix and set it for 30 seconds, starting at level 1, then switch up to level 10.
